Fremont Library Chinese New Year Celebration

  • Fremont Main Library 2400 Stevenson Boulevard Fremont, CA, 94538 United States (map)

The South Bay Chinese Club, Citizens For Better Community and the Fremont Main Library will again celebrate the Chinese New Year on Saturday, February 24, 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. This year we celebrate the Year of the Dog! The official date for the new lunar year is February 16, 2018.

This event is for families, youngsters and anyone interested in Chinese culture. Craft booths will fill the library. Last year Paper Cutting was featured on one side of the Children’s Library and on the other side in the Storytime Theater, other crafts could be found. The children have tons of fun while they observe the demonstrations. They also get hands-on experience doing the crafts themselves and taking their own work home!
Don’t miss the entertainment program, which takes place 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. in the Fukaya Room.

The performances include instruments, singing, and dance. It is fascinating to see the talent we have right here in our own community. Crafts will be open 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., right after the performances end.

Volunteers are always appreciated: We are looking for members who can volunteer 2 hours of their time on Friday afternoon, February 23 around 1:30 pm to help decorate. We also can use volunteers on Saturday, February 24 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm for the Chinese New Year event.

Help is always needed with children’s crafts and many other areas. If you know of others who might have crafts to demonstrate, please also let us know. All the supplies will be provided! We only need your time and effort. Please call Amy Cho, 510/797-6426.
