The South Bay Chinese Service Club scholarship program entered into its 55th year of awarding scholarships to exemplary high school graduating seniors in our local community.  Eligibilty is open to students residing in Fremont, Newark, Union City, and Milpitas who have a personal background in and/or appreciation of Chinese or Chinese-American history, culture, heritage, and language.  Additionally, children and grandchildren of club officers and Committee members are eligible regardless of their city of residence.  The purpose of the scholarship program is to recognize these talented students for their hard work and achievements, and to provide encouragement for the challenges ahead.  The applicants are carefully evaluated based on academic achievement, leadership, community service, and extracurricular achievement. There are also a limited number of scholarships to be awarded based on financial need. The minimum individual scholarship award amount is $1,000.

We are asking for your financial support to help us to reach out to our best students.  Our recipients are an exceptional group of highly motivated future leaders - each year it is difficult to select just a few.  During the 2024-2025 school year, with the generous donations from many of our members, major sponsors and Chinese Immersion Parents’ Council of Fremont, we awarded a record total of $62,000 in scholarships to 38 students.  For the 2025-2026 school year, with your help, our goal is to generate an equal or higher amount for our scholarship fund.

NEW: In 2025, we expanded the scholarship program to create a pilot “Mentoring Program” to provide additonal financial support and mentoring to help the 2025 award recipients to navigate through the first year of college. These selected graduates will receive $1,000 scholarship for their college sophomore year after completing the one-year mentoring program during their freshman year in college.

Due to limited funding, we can only accept 10 award recipients to the pilot mentoring program this year. We are near mid-term for some of these students and the feedback has been positive. Most of the students have met with their mentors multiple times already and received advices helping them select classes, adjust their studying habits, and develop better time management. This new pilot program is quite successful based on our intial assessment. We would like to continue this mentoring program in 2026. We are seeking financial support from those who believe in this program and the positive impact it will have on our award recipients.

If you are interested in donating to the mentoring program, please use the same donation form below and select “2026 Mentoring Scholarship Program” on the dropdown menu to make your donations. This donation (along with other sponsorship to the 2026 scholarships, if any) will count toward the “complimentary and discounted dinners” for the 2026 Scholarship Awards Banquet.
