SBCC Website Redesign

A Message from the Editor - Joe Woo

We wish you a joyous and prosperous Dragon Boat Festival!

We are happy to announce that the SBCC website is being upgraded with the latest software. The goal is to improve the website to provide a cleaner and more professional appearance while making it easier to navigate.

Because of the relatively large amount of information (web pages) we have developed through the years, the upgrade will be implemented in 4 phases. We have just completed Phase 1 that focuses on developing a new architecture, updating the Home page, adding a News page, and creating a new 2024 Scholarship Recap page.

2024 Scholarship Awards Banquet

The 2024 SBCSC Scholarship Awards banquet was held on Wednesday evening, April 24, 2024, at the Pearl Bay Restaurant in Fremont.

This year, we awarded 37 scholarships for a record total of $58,500 to 34 graduating seniors.

SBCC at the Asian Heritage Celebration

South Bay Chinese Club (SBCC) shared a booth with Citizens for Better Community (CBC), and Friends of Children with Special Needs (FCSN) at the 2024 Asian Heritage Celebration held at the Fremont Event Center on May 4, 2024.

2012 SBCSC scholarship recipient received Doctor of Medicine Degree

Congratulations to Elyssa (Ellie) Yu Li Wong who received her Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from the University of Southern California, Keck School of Medicine on May 11, 2024.  Ellie is the daughter of SBCC members Ron and Lorrice Wong and received a SBCSC Scholarship and Best Essay awards in 2012.

Legendary Story teller

Congratulations to Gerrye Wong for receiving the Legendary Story Teller award at the Asian American Stories Award Ceremony on May 2, 2024 at the HL Peninsula Restaurant, Milpitas.

The Gala, sponsored by Silicon Valley Community Media and DingDingTV, spotlighted Asian American voices by awarding winners among the 70+ contestants who submitted a short one-minute video with the theme “All of Us Belong Here”.
