Make and Take Joong Wrapping Workshop

Join us for a fun Joong, aka Zongzi (粽) making workshop with your fellow Club members on June 14, 2026. This is a very popular event. Space is limited. Therefore, please sign up early.

4th of July Parade After Party

Fremont Education Foundation is co-hosting this 4th of July Parade After Party event on July 4, 2026 from 11 am to 2 pm at the Fremont Downtown Event Center Plaza. SBCC will have a booth at the event. Please come by for the fun and visit our booth. Below is a flyer of the event.

SBCSC 2025 Scholar Athlete Alyssa Lim excelled at the 2026 NCAA DIII Women’s Golf Championship

May 19 - 22, 2026

Our 2025 Scholar Athlete scholarship winner from Logan High School, Alyssa Lim, is truly thriving at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh—both in the classroom and on the green.

At the 2026 NCAA Division III Women’s Golf Championship, she helped Carnegie Mellon finish second in the tournament while placing second overall individually.

Alyssa received the York & Dora Gin Memorial Scholarship for Scholar Athlete sponsored by Dr. Victor & Dr. Frances Gin and family.

Dr. Brian Gin presented the scholarship award on behalf of the Gin family at the 2025 SBCSC Scholarship Awards Banquet.

SBCSC Scholarship Recipients recognized at Senior Awards Nights

Each year, representatives from the SBCSC Scholarship Committee are invited to attend the Senior Awards Nights of several local high schools to recognize the graduating seniors who received scholarship awards from SBCSC.

This year, three Fremont high schools (American, Irvington, and Washington) invited SBCSC to send representatives to attend their Senior Awards Nights held during the week of April 17, 2026.

Joe Woo, Scholarship Committee Chair, attended the Irvington High School Senior Awards Night on April 19, and presented certificates of acknowledgement to:

Justin Lee - Emmanuel Chao Scholarship for Science, Technology, Engineering, & Mathematics [STEM}

Allyson Tan - Pearl Li Gunsell Scholarship for Leadership)

Allyson Wong, who won the 2025 SBCSC Howard Tom Memorial Scholarship for Top Honor, was one of the awards presenters at the Irvington High School Senior Awards Night presenting the Fremont Education Foundation (FEF) “Pathway to Success” awards to two Irvington High School students.

Allyson is attending Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusette. She is currently participating in the SBCSC Mentoring Scholarship Program (inaugurated in 2025).

American High School held its Senior Awards Night on May 21, 2026.

Jane Lin, a former American High School graduate and a former SBCSC Scholarship Award recipient, was invited to represent SBCSC to honor the four American High School students who received SBCSC scholarships this year:

Thomas Lin - CBC Scholarship for Community Service

Jessica Yu - SBCSC Scholarship for Leadership

Isabella Zhao - Karl & Frances Ngan Memorial Scholarship for Dedication to Community Service

Washington High School held its Senior Awards Night on April 21, 2026.

Maria Ponssen of the SBCSC Scholarship Selection Committee and a former College Specialist, was invited to represent SBCSC to present Certificates of Acknowledgement to two Washington High School seniors who received this year’s SBCSC scholarship awards.

In Memory of Leslie Young
1945 - 2026

It is with great sadness that we convey the news of the passing of Leslie Young on April 18, 2026.

Leslie was a long-time member of SBCC since 1975. He and his spouse, Linette (former President of SBCC, 2008) and Board member of SBCSC) supported many SBCC/SBCSC programs and activities throughout the years.

Leslie and Linette with Lily Mei, Mayor of the City of Fremont, SBCC members and other honored guests (octogenarians) at the 2024 Elders Brunch at the Pearl Bay Restaurant on September 30, 2024. At the time, Leslie was one year shy of the octogenarian status.
