Gerry the penguin was hatched at the Aquarium on Nov. 30, 2022. She was named after Gerry Low-Sabado, President of SBCC 2005-2006 and a direct descendant of Chinese immigrants who lived and labored near where the Aquarium is now located. Gerry worked for years to bring recognition to the many Chinese residents who made significant contributions to the community before she passed away in 2021.
Penguins are known for their friendliness, determination, and sense of community, all traits that perfectly describe Gerry.
On February 19, 2023, the Aquarium invited Gerry’s family and friends to meet Gerry, the penguin at the Aquarium.
