Happy Lunar New Year!!!

Chinese New Year comes early this year - on February 1, 2022. Unfortunately, we are not able to hold one of our most popular events - the Chinese New Year Banquet to welcome the Year of the Tiger and to allow our members to get reacquainted. All the SBCC officers and Committee Chairs would like to take this opportunity to wish all our members and families happiness, prosperity, and good health!

2021-2022 SBCSC Scholarship Program is accepting applications

We are currently accepting applications for the 2021-2022 SBCSC Scholarship Awards Program. Graduating seniors of Chinese descent residing in Fremont, Newark, and Union City with a GPA of at least 3.0 are eligible to apply. Selected applicants will receive a minimum of $1,000 scholarship. The deadline for receiving the applications and supporting documents is March 1, 2022. 2022 SBCSC Scholarship Awards Banquet

It has been more than two years since we held our annual Scholarship Awards Banquet. The image at the left is from the last Awards Banquet (4/10/2019) where Ms. Dion Lim (news anchor of Channel 7) addressed the students and parents as the keynote speaker.

As new coronavirus cases are falling across the country today, we are optimistic that we may be heading back to some normalcy soon. Although we have to cancel the Chinese New Year banquet celebration in February (again), we believe that we may be in a much better place when April comes along. We have tentatively scheduled to hold the 2022 Scholarship Awards Banquet on April 27, 2022 if permissible by local and State laws.

We will post the banquet information on our website when more information becomes available. If the Awards banquet cannot be held due to whatever reasons, the students will still be recognized and be receiving their scholarships via Zoom meetings as we have done in the previous two years.

Our Scholarship Program is heading into our 52nd year of awarding scholarships to local students

The SBCSC Scholarship program is still going strong in spite of the pandemic. 2022 marks the 52nd anniversary of the program. Thanks to many of our sponsors last year, we were able to award more than $34,000 to 25 exceptional high school seniors of Chinese descent.

During this difficult time, we have also increased the number of “need-based” scholarships available to the applicants. We want to thank all our donors and sponsors contributing to last year’s program. We will need your support again to continue to grow our program to benefit more students and may be even expand beyond the Tri-City areas.
